Behind the Scenes: Making the 2013 Holiday Ornament

Happy daylight savings to you!

Before we show you all the fun stuff that went into developing the 2013 Holiday Ornament, we wanted to thank everyone who participated in last week's Halloween Giveaway. It was a first for us and we will definitely do it again! Congratulations to the lovely Lucy Carter from Houston, Texas on winning an Amapola Large Serving Bowl.

Onto our behind the scenes...

I feel like the holidays are officially in full swing with halloween behind us. And with that we are introducing to you our 2013 Holiday Ornament, as modeled by our very own Whitney Russell.

The holiday ornament will be available for purchase starting this Thursday, November 7th at the Azulina Tienda for $34.

Like all Azulina products our holiday ornament is hand-painted in Colombia by women artisans from the town of El Carmen de Viboral.  Each piece is a one-of-a-kind and makes for a wonderful, thoughtful holiday gift. Every ornament comes in a white gift box.

Test #2

We started the design process mid-summer, testing out a range of colors and patterns. To the left are two of the designs that didn't quite pass the test. When my mom was in town in August we got to see the ornaments coming out of the plaster molds. Pretty neat!

We landed on the classic blue and white pattern because, well, what says Christmas like cobalt blue??

But really, it is so true to Azulina and our classic blue designs like ClΓ‘sico, Azulina and Carmen, so we decided to make our inaugural collection blue and white.

Have a wonderful week!
